Sessent’anni dopo il Concilio Vaticano II, il Dipartimento di Architettura dell’Università di Bologna intende promuovere una conferenza internazionale dal titolo LE CHIESE E LA CITTA’, che si svolgerà a Bologna il 7 e l’8 Marzo 2024.

​

Duplice lo scopo dell’appuntamento. In una prospettiva storico-critica, il convegno si propone di analizzare il rapporto tra le chiese e la città nei piani di ricostruzione, nelle fasi di inurbamento, nel dibattito culturale sul ruolo degli edifici di culto e sulla loro immagine secondo il Concilio Vaticano II e nei movimenti precursori nei diversi contesti europei.

Una seconda sessione sarà dedicata a scrutare il futuro di questa relazione, nei radicali cambiamenti della compagine sociale, nell’accelerazione tra secolarizzazione e post-secolarizzazione, nella definitiva distinzione tra comunità civile e comunità religiosa, tra religione e cristianesimo: quale forma, ruolo e modello per le chiese (e specialmente i centri parrocchiali) di oggi e di domani?

Una selezione delle migliori proposte sarà pubblicata dopo processo di Blind peer review rispettivamente su “HPA – Histories of Postwar Architecture” (https://hpa.unibo.it/) – in relazione al primo tema – e su “in_bo. Ricerche e progetti per il territorio, la città e l’architettura” (https://in-bo.unibo.it/) – in relazione alla seconda sessione -.

Sixty years after the Second Vatican Council, the Department of Architecture of the University of Bologna is promoting an international conference entitled "The Church and the City" to be held in Bologna on 7 and 8 March 2024.

 

This conference is set with a double purpose. From a historical-critical perspective, the conference aims to analyze the relationship between the churches and the city in Europe after the second world war, in reconstruction plans, in the phases of urbanization, intercepting cultural debates on the role of buildings of worship and their design, in the renewal of the image of the city and the Church, according to the Second Vatican Council and its precursory movements, in different European contexts.

A second session will be devoted to scrutinizing the future of the relationship between churches and cities, considering the radical changes in social structure, the acceleration of secularized society towards a post-secularized one, and the definitive distinction between civil and religious communities, and between religion and Christianity: what form, role and model for new churches (and especially parish centers) in the cities of today and tomorrow?

A selection of the best proposals will be published after a blind peer review process respectively on "HPA - Histories of Postwar Architecture" (https://hpa.unibo.it/) - in relation to the first theme - and on "in_bo. Research and projects for territory, city and architecture" (https://in-bo.unibo.it/) - in relation to the second session.
